Tonight only: Every card counts twice!

You know you've sunk to a new low when, while restacking the cards for Candyland, you start thinking how you might arrange them to make the game go as quickly as possible. In my defense: it was 6:47pm after a long day and we (mostly) let the cards fall as they may.

I used to do that when I played with my sister (she's 11 yrs younger) and when I babysat in high school and college. And now that I'm a parent, you'll notice that I do not own Candyland. No I do not.

Yes, that game can go on forever! Just when someone gets to the very end, they get a doggone gumdrop card and it's like the game starts all over again!

For the record, the rules state that no one under the age of five ever has to go backward. Unless you're K and actually like going back to those cute little characters. And I actually prefer Candyland to Chutes and Ladders, which really does take forever. Unless you play by the little known rule that if you land anywhere on a ladder, you continue on up, which does not apply in the case of slides. Obviously.
