And it don't hurt, either

Yesterday, in the very long line for the ride we weren't even allowed to ride (perhaps Sea World should consider posting useful information like parent to child ratios and baby restrictions, etc., but I digress):

"Ooh, she's got dirt in her hands."

Uh huh.

"She's got it all over her shirt now."

Okay.

"Um, she has some in her mouth."

Sure does.

Altogether now, repeat after me: It's just dirt. Sheesh.

Happy Birthday, Baby K

Today you turn one, slipping moment by moment into toddler-hood. I'd like to think that I savored every last minute of your babiness--those tiny fingers curling and uncurling, the roundness of your baby face, the naked need of a shrill infant cry, the heavy weight of your weary body as your head nestled into my shoulder. Truth is, there wasn't time enough to savor it all. But isn't that about my growth, and not yours?

Happy birthday, sweetheart. The world grows more wonderful for you with each passing day, and I rejoice in your discoveries, because my world is more wonderful for having you in it.

Necessities

Why yes, she can say truck, or at least the final consonant sound her brother uses for truck. So it's mama, dada, more, bear, and now truck. Because that's everything a little girl needs.

Last week, all of which

Last week, I learned the following things, all of which could have been blog posts:

K can and will giggle in her sleep, but only when she hears M screaming her name. In her ear. Incessantly.

M fully understands the concept of "busy," especially when he's asked to clean up his toys. Apparently he doesn't have to be doing anything particular when he's "busy."

K now says, "More," but only when it comes to strawberries, Mommy milk, and various chokeable objects and foods. And then she really means, MORE NOW.

M can tell his two identical stuffed ducks apart, correctly identifying Duck and Duck's brother, Duck, even when Mom and Dad have no clue.

But really, then it'd just be all about the kids. Summaries are so useful for getting past the blog-backlog, not to mention sparing the cute-factor. Not that the world couldn't benefit from a little cuteness, but four kid posts? About my unbelievably cute kids? I'm afraid I couldn't be stopped from overdoing it.
